Gunsan Impi Station Building in detail
Gunsan Impi Station stands in Sulsan-ri, not Eumnae-ri, because local Confucian scholars objected
Gunsan Impi Station is a station on the Gunsan Line, which branched off the Honam Line in 1912. The railway ran through Sulsan-ri instead of Impi's Eumnae-ri because the Confucian scholars of Eumnae-ri opposed it. The reason they gave was feng shui. The Impi Station building that remains today was built around 1936 as a Gunsan Line railway station.
Under Japanese occupation, Gunsan Impi Station was on a route that carried Jeolla-do farm produce out
During the Japanese occupation, Gunsan Impi Station was one point on an important rail route. Farm produce from Jeolla-do was carried along it through Gunsan Port and shipped out to Japan. This is why the Gunsan Impi Station Building is counted among stations with a history of colonial exploitation.

Why is the Gunsan Impi Station Building in Sulsan-ri and not in Impi's Eumnae-ri?
Confucian scholars in Eumnae-ri opposed a station there, citing feng shui. So the Gunsan Line was routed through Sulsan-ri instead of Eumnae-ri, and the Gunsan Impi Station Building stands there. source 1
