Former Joseon Bank Gunsan Branch was the Gunsan branch of the Joseon Bank, which played a central role in shipping out rice and managing assets. The Joseon Bank was a central bank directly under the Japanese Government-General of Korea. The branch building went up in 1922, when Japan used Gunsan as an economic outpost. Tied to the port and railroads, it was a site where capital circulated and exploitation took place.
